Client’s Goal:

Muncie BY5 wanted to clarify its role as an organization within a rapidly changing early childhood education landscape. As the organization transitioned from being housed under the Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County to becoming an independent nonprofit, leadership needed a clear, functional strategic plan that would strengthen positioning, align board and staff, and differentiate BY5 from regional partners. 

Their goals included defining their unique value proposition, redefining goals and priorities, creating internal clarity around roles and pillars, strengthening provider support, and developing a grant-ready roadmap to guide implementation and funding conversations. 

Our Solution:

Stratavize Consulting Inc. partnered with Muncie BY5 to develop a comprehensive strategic plan and implementation framework grounded in environmental realities and workforce data. This effort focused on repositioning BY5 as a confident and adaptive organization while embedding activation tools to ensure the plan would be lived, not shelved. 

In collaboration with Muncie BY5, our process included: 

Conducting an environmental scan integrating data consolidated by the BY5 team from a recently administered provider survey, an internal analysis of the BY5 data archive, state policy shifts, and a brief competitive landscape analysis. 

Preparing a Considerations Report to ground the board and staff in economic, political, and funding realities impacting early childhood education locally and statewide. 

Facilitating a 1-day in-person Strategic Visioning Session with board, staff, and stakeholders to clarify identity, direction, and long-term impact.  

Developing a comprehensive Strategic Plan including newly created goals, objectives, and outcomes. 

Creating a 1-page Strategic Plan to tell their story to donors, ECE providers, and key stakeholders. 

Facilitating an Implementation Planning Workshop to create a Road Map and Role Map to ensure the plan is embedded in their everyday work routine, identify specific measurable metrics, and assign team members to lead the pillars.
