Client’s Goal:

Greensburg Prevention Group (GPG) partnered with Stratavize Consulting Inc. to better understand youth substance misuse in local junior high and high schools. The goal was to uncover how and where students were accessing drugs and alcohol, using student input to inform future prevention initiatives. Additionally, GPG aimed to establish an effective Mayor’s Youth Council to reduce the spread of misinformation regarding substance use in youths within Decatur County.  

Our Solution:

Greensburg Prevention Group (GPG) has worked with Stratavize through multiple contracts over the past few years. Stratavize offered a variety of ways to engage students in grades 6-12, as well as at-risk youth, which was crucial to identifying specific areas for reducing substance use. Following this work, Stratavize assisted in helping the Mayor’s Youth Council build a strong foundation for how the youth members will work together. Now, Stratavize works with the Greensburg Prevention Group through yearly workshops to continue to educate and embolden the youth community within Greensburg to improve their leadership capabilities.

In collaboration with Greensburg Prevention Group, our process was to: 

Facilitate face-to-face sessions with junior high, high school, and at-risk youth. 

Conduct written and discussion-based sessions to gather insights. 

Analyze data to identify key themes and specific areas of opportunity. 

Conducted workshop for the Mayor’s Youth Council leaders to learn how to effectively work together to carry out local community projects.
