Indiana United Ways
Aligning a Network of Nonprofits to Achieve a Shared Vision for Indiana Communities

Industry:
Nonprofit
Client’s Goal:
Indiana United Ways (IUW) recognized the need to re-evaluate and refine its existing strategic plan, Vision 2027, to ensure its goals remained aligned with the evolving needs of the nonprofit sector and the communities they serve. At a crossroads, IUW sought to strengthen its internal operations, enhance collaboration among member United Ways, and position the organization for long-term success in an increasingly complex philanthropic and social landscape.
Our Solution:
Indiana United Ways engaged Stratavize Consulting Inc. to facilitate the strategic planning process with a collaborative and people-centered approach. The process was built around Stratavize’s proprietary Strategic Visioning Model, which includes six key stages: Explore, Align, Visioning, Strategy, Implementation, and Culture.
In collaboration with IUW, our process included: Conducting facilitated listening sessions with the Strategic Planning Taskforce, IUW staff, member United Way organizations, and board members to understand perceptions of Vision 2027.
Launching a stakeholder engagement survey to gather diverse perspectives from board members, staff, and external partners.
Creating an environmental scan detailing philanthropic trends, political impact, survey report, and listening session summaries.
Hosting a Vision 2027 Refinement Workshop with the Strategic Planning Taskforce to revise strategic priorities based on data collected through the environmental scan.
