Client’s Goal:

Union County Public Library (UCPL) faced a turning point, with a project underway to expand and modernize the facility. UCPL’s leadership recognized the need for a strategic plan that aligned with its future vision. Their goals included developing a clear, co-created vision of the library’s future, expanding the library’s relevance beyond traditional services to meet diverse community needs, addressing communication gaps and reshaping perceptions of the library’s role, and establishing a path forward to become a hub for mental, physical, and social wellbeing. 

Our Solution:

Stratavize Consulting partnered with UCPL to lead a full-scale strategic planning engagement built on collaboration, empathy, and community insight. Together, we crafted a forward-thinking strategic plan anchored in the values and lived experiences of Union County residents. 

In partnership with UCPL, our process included: 
Conducting a comprehensive environmental scan of Union County demographics, macro library trends, and results from a county-wide community survey.

Facilitating alignment meetings with UCPL’s strategic planning team to evaluate constraints, unknowns, and to prepare for visioning.

Leading a full-day Strategic Visioning Workshop using tools like empathy mapping and visioning with Legos to assist participants in creating a bold vision of the library as a space of belonging, growth, and innovation.

Delivering a fully designed strategic plan with clear goals and community-driven priorities including mental wellness, lifelong learning, accessible technology, and physical activity.
